Every week there is something new to try in this class and this week was no different. This week had us try the universal Loving Kindness exercise and complete the Integral Assessment. I did both and has good results from both.
The universal Loving Kindness exercise basically allows you to relax and connect with someone you love. It wants you to see how it feels to be open and to give to others. This exercise for me allowed to have an open mind and want to help people in my life that I can. It helped me feel empowered to do good.
The Integral Assessment seems to focus more one the person taking the time and deciding what they want to focus on fine-tuning. It is the same idea of meditation like the universal Loving Kindness with closing eyes, visualizing, and breathing. The difference is that throughout the Assessment you're asking yourself questions to help adjust your mind to where you feel it needs help.
After doing both of these, I found that I have a hard time just focusing on one thing like Loving and Kindness. I am more for Integral Assessment because it allows me to ask myself questions and help me adjust what I need to work on most.
I have chosen biological development to focus growth on and develop more. I have a busy life with two little girls, keeping house, going to school, and working from home. So I know my fitness and nutrition get put on the back burner. I am slowly beginning to make a stand in my health and have been trying to walk/jog every day at least 2 miles and eat healthier. I pay attention to what I put in my mouth now, and have actually signed up for Weight Watchers to help get to my goal. I love my children, but I want my old body back! I'm sure many moms know what I am talking about. Along with walking/jogging I am going to start a workout routine and keep track of my food intake to foster greater wellness.
Hello Tiffani,
ReplyDeleteI thought this weeks exercise was in a sense fun. I like to meditate but I have so much going on within my life right now that I cannot seem to quiet all the noise out of my mind in order to reach a truly relaxed state. The assessment process allowed me to focus on many different aspects while asking myself questions and it seemed comforting. I wish you the best of luck in reaching your weight loss goal. I am a mother of one little girl and they sure do keep you busy. I started exercising nearly 3 years ago and stuck with it and finally reached my goal approximately a year ago. Don't give up, so many people expect to see immediate results and do not stick to their routine due to not seeing the changes they wish to see. Don't give up, you will get there and it may take a little time to see the changes but you will feel the changes within sooner. I know that I feel so much better and healthier. Now if I could just cut out the soda I'd be doing fantastic but that is my crutch and I can't seem to give it up fully. But I don't drink nearly as much as I used to. I only have one can a day opposed to drinking it all day. Now I drink water and my can of soda is my treat. Once again the best of luck to you, you can definitely do it!!!
Hi Tiffani,
ReplyDeleteSounds like your are very busy. I find that even 5 minutes of meditation helps my day flow so much better. We all have a balancing act, but you are doing well and are on the right track. Plus, you are modeling taking care of yourself to your children and that is a great gift to give them.
Take care,
Robin
